Work described
From the filingAs part of the project approval process, the Hartford Historic Commission has required the preservation and incorporation of the building's historic Washington Street and Jefferson Street facades into the new development. To facilitate this preservation effort, the existing structure behind the facades must be demolished while maintaining the facades in place. This permit application is being submitted for approval of the temporary facade bracing system that will be installed to support and stabilize the Washington Street and Jefferson Street facades during demolition of the existing building and construction of the new structure. The temporary bracing system has been designed and engineered by a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Connecticut and is intended to safely maintain the integrity of these historic facades until they can be permanently incorporated into the new building. See attached engineered drawings. All other work for 224 Washington St will be submitted under separate permit applications.
