Planning & Zoning Commission - Special Permit Application

Request for a Special Permit to extend an existing 8-foot-high solid cedar privacy fence along the rear (east-facing) property line of 95 Fair Street, Guilford, CT. An existing 8-foot-high solid cedar fence currently extends approximately 19 feet along the rear property line. We propose continuing this fence in kind to the rear corner of the property, maintaining the same height, materials, style and overall appearance. The rear property line abuts 1058 Boston Post Road, including an adjacent commercial parking area. The purpose of the extension is to create a consistent, continuous fence line that provides privacy and screening from the neighboring commercial property and associated activity. The proposed fence extension was included in our Certificate of Appropriateness application and has been approved by the Guilford Historic District Commission. We are now seeking the required separate Special Permit from the Planning & Zoning Commission.
