For this water damaged, plater, ceiling, I propose to remove the remaining section of the ceiling. Remove any existing insulation. clean, and assess for any issues. Next: Reinsulate the ceiling with R-13, install 5/8 moisture and mold resilient drywall. 1 5/8" drywall screws no more than 12" apart around the eddges, and no more than 6" apart in the center (field) of each board. Tape and compound to a smooth, ready to paint finish. [ include all required inspections]
