Interior demolition for medical tenant fit-out Permit Conditions and inspections: - Before any demolition occurs, the contractor shall schedule a walkthrough with the Building Inspector to ensure compliance with Chapter 33 of the Building Code, “Safeguards during Construction,” and Chapter 33 of the Fire Code, “Fire-Safety during Construction.” Hot Work permits are required before the use of any cutting torch, grinder, or welding equipment. Before the use of any temporary heating equipment, the contractor shall submit cut sheets of the equipment. An inspection is required before its use. - No smoking signs shall be posted throughout. - Before any demolition occurs, the Building Department shall be provided with an asbestos survey and a pre-demolition survey for other hazardous materials. - The fire suppression system shall remain in service during the entirety of the demolition until the point that the sprinkler system is the only item left to complete the demolition. If removal of sections is unavoidable, the Building Department shall be notified in advance to determine the required safeguards. Safeguards may include a temporary suppression system, fire watch, or other method. - Before the demolition of the fire suppression system, the Building Department shall be notified to inspect the premises. At that time, the Building and/or Fire inspector shall determine whether additional precautions shall be needed. - Fire extinguishers are required throughout. - The FDC connection shall be covered at the time the sprinkler becomes inoperable. A sign shall be placed above indicating that the fire sprinkler is OOS. The Fire Department shall be notified in advance of any sprinkler demolition. - The fire access roads shall be maintained at all times. - Any holes in the floor shall be covered or protected by guards. - Electrical permit required - Plumbing permit required
