Retaining wall around in-ground pool. Top of wall is approximately level with pool and 5.5' above finished grade at highest point. Outer edge of wall is 18' from corner of pool at highest point of wall. Pool is 8' deep. ABO advises approval of the permit: 8/22/2025 field inspection of work, post construction. Wall is greater than 10 feet away from the pool. Viewed photo of the base course of blocks installed on a compacted gravel bed. Behind this 1st course is a filter fabric with gravel above it, two black perforated drain pipes which protrude out of the wall at a carved out block located at the linear center of the wall. The pipes were then covered with gravel. The wall was built up two additional courses and another layer of geotextile fabric installed. Homeowner states that these fabric layers went out level across the compacted backfill behind the wall. The wall then was raised an additional 3 courses and another layer of geotextile fabric was placed, plus another block course left atop to retain and backfilled. The finish side of the block wall course layers do visibly show the geotextile fabric material so you can see exactly where it begins. A dig in the gravel confirmed that the top fabric layer extended more than 36" into the uphill grade away from the wall.
